Beth is the founder and owner of Carlens Canines & Companions. She is a qualified behaviourist, dynamic dog practitioner, and trainer, as well as an experienced dog walker.

Beth is a strong believer in ongoing education and how continued learning helps her and her team provide the best possible care for the dogs they work with. She regularly invests time into professional development to ensure the support offered through Carlens Canines & Companions remains ethical, informed and evidence-led.

Outside of work, Beth shares her life with a horse named Etse and a black cat called Charity, both of whom have shaped her understanding of animal behaviour and communication. She’s an avid reader and baker, and enjoys dabbling in canine photography, particularly when arranging adventure days for clients where she can explore new locations with the dogs - camera in hand.

​

Beth oversees all aspects of the business, guiding the team and services to ensure every dog receives calm, consistent and thoughtful care.

Emma joined Carlens Canines & Companions in December 2023 and is our Head Dog Walker, playing a key role in the day-to-day care of the dogs we work with.

​

Alongside her walking role, Emma has begun her journey into dog training, currently completing a course with the IMDT (Institute of Modern Dog Trainers) while working closely alongside Beth. This combination of formal learning and hands-on experience helps ensure dogs receive consistent, thoughtful handling and clear communication, both on walks and beyond.

​

Emma shares her life with her Maltipoo, Monty, as well as a rabbit called Seb and a flock of chickens, giving her a broad, practical understanding of animal care.

 

Outside of work, she’s a keen traveller and can often be found making friends with stray dogs and cats along the way - usually wondering how many she can convince to come home with her.

Fenella, known as Fen, joined the team in December 2025 and is one of our dog walkers.

 

Fen grew up surrounded by dogs and animals, and her family runs a local carriage company, giving her experience with a wide range of animals including horses, pigs, chickens, guinea pigs and fish. This background has given her a strong foundation in animal handling, care and observation.

Although Fen is newer to the team, she is steadily working through structured training, courses and learning materials put together by Beth, helping her develop her skills and knowledge in line with our approach.

 

Fen is thoughtful, observant and committed to learning, and she brings a gentle, attentive manner to her work with every dog. 

​

Outside of work, Fen enjoys scuba diving and skiing, and brings the same focus and calmness into her day-to-day care of dogs.
